Each day in October an Icon will be featured on the Gay History Month site with a video, bio, bibliography, downloadable images, and other educational resources.

This Week's Icons include: prolific and renowned author and illustrator, Maurice Sendak; Matthew Shepard whose murder brought national and international attention to LGBT hate crimes and the need for LGBT inclusion in hate crimes protection; Johanna Sigurdardottir, the first female Prime Minister of Iceland and the world's first openly LGBT national leader and composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
