According to the BBC's Asian Network Reports Radio Show, gay Asian men in the north of England are being racially abused on the gay scene.
The programme quotes a gay Asian who said that bouncers ask him to kiss another man to prove that he's gay. He concludes by saying:
"White men are not asked to do this so I just don't bother going out anymore, it's not worth it."
Another man says he is regularly insulted because of his race by members of the gay community. He is quoted as saying that he won't get served in bars unless he protests and that he gets called a "
paki" or be abused with comments such as "
here come the suicide bombers".
Asif Quareshi, of the Naz project which supports gay South Asians, tells the programme:
"
Racism is alive and well but it's far worse in Yorkshire than in cities like London and Manchester."
