The drag king and queen that will lead this year’s Manchester Pride Parade will be chosen by a panel of judges next Friday, August 28 – the opening night of the Big Weekend.
The finalists have been chosen over the past few weeks by the bars and pubs in the gay village, all of which have been working hard to select their very own royal representative.
The event takes place from 7.30pm until 8.30pm and will kick-start the Big Weekend entertainment before Bananarama take to the main stage.
The winning King and Queen will then lead the Manchester Pride Parade on Saturday August 29, as it winds it way through the city.
Jackie Crozier, festival manager of Manchester Pride, said:
“It’s an exciting event to kick start the Big Weekend celebrations - and the competition is fierce, which is no wonder, as leading the parade is a very sought-after privilege!”
