Alan Titchmarsh’s “Melodies For You” show on Radio 2 featured Prelude to the Nocturne, the debut single by Red Cable Sunday – which was composed, produced and performed by Denis Fernando.

Within weeks of release it was also featured on Gaydar radio, BBC Lancashire's On the Wire and BBC London's World in London shows.

Denis said:
“I am delighted at the warm reception that this single has received since its release a little over a month ago.  To have gone from an unknown artist with a new piece of music, to national press and radio, in such a short time has surpassed all my expectations. As a Gay Asian artist releasing minimal contemporary classical music I was concerned it could fall between many stools, so I am grateful for the enthusiastic support from many quarters, demonstrating the passion there is to support new music. “

Prelude to the Nocturne is a cinematic piano track celebrating the beauty of the night as a metaphor for challenging racism, and the negative connotations of darkness.  It was inspired by Denis’ experience as an anti-racist activist.

It was released last month on iTunes, amazon, other major online stores, CD and limited edition 7”  - the CD features the video which was filmed on pianos across London which were part of Luke Jerram’s Street Pianos Project.
