Lib Dem, Shadow Home Secretary, Chris Huhne who will be taking part in this week’s BBC question time programme, has rejected Peter Hain’s last ditch attempt to stop the BNP’s Nick Griffin appearing on the programme.

In an article on the Guardian website he said:
“We must take on the BNP.

“Refusal of Griffin on these grounds would look like gerrymandering, and would play into precisely the ‘us against the establishment’ pose that Griffin likes to affect.” 

The BBC Trust will today consider Peter Hain’s request at a hastily convened meeting of the committee to decide if the appeal is admissible or not.

The BNP were invited onto Question Time after they won two seats at the Euro Elections in May this year.
