Lord Carey

Lord Carey, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, is calling for senior judges to stand down from Court of Appeal rulings about religious discrimination because they might not understand the issues involved.
Lord Carey, and other senior church figures, said that because of recent "
dangerous" rulings, such cases should be heard by a panel of five judges who have a proven grasp of religious issues.
A Christian relationship counsellor who was sacked for not giving advice to gay couples is being supported by Lord Carey. Carey hopes that the counsellor will have his case heard by such a panel.
The Sunday Telegraph has reported that Carey has accused the Court of Appeal of making "
disturbing" and "
dangerous" judgements which could lead to Christians being barred from some workplaces.
The Church of England has said that it does not support Lord Carey's views.
