Pride Bristol 2010 is scheduled to take place between August 14 – 22. Pride Week features an LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) film festival, club nights, talks, performance and community events. There will also be a large free festival held in Castle Park in the heart of Bristol on Saturday 21.

Pride Bristol 2010 is organised by a team of LGBT business and community stakeholders, and includes representatives from Bristol City Council and Avon & Somerset Police. Themed "Celebrating Diversity, Championing Equality", Pride Bristol 2010 is expected to raise awareness of the contribution LGBT people make to the city, promote tolerance, showcase LGBT talent, engage and build links with non-LGBT people, and celebrate the significant progress towards acceptance and understanding made by the people of the South West.

Dr Anna Rutherford, Pride Director, said:
Bristol is a vibrant and wonderful city, with a real appreciation of diversity. However, despite its large LGBT population, Bristol has to date been one of the few large cities to lack a Pride festival. This year, a professional and passionate team have become the beating heart of Pride Bristol. Together we are working round the clock to develop a Pride to be Proud of, for 2010 and years to come.  Pride is for everyone and benefits cities both socially and financially. We appeal for volunteers and businesses to contact us and help create the Pride that Bristol deserves.”
