Scott Free brings his new show, The Pink Sinatra to The New Steine Hotel & Bistro for a month’s residency during the Brighton Fringe Festival.

A tongue in cheek homage to the great man himself, Scott sings Rat Pack classics linking numbers with easy charm and humorous banter, successfully transforming you to the main lounge at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas. He is joined on stage by dancer/singer, Stephanie Kemp who adds a curious charm to the evening.

Scott has a great voice, he phrases beautifully and is always bang on key.
The backing track was a little too quiet for my liking, but his vocal prowess and tone colour more than covered any balance problems.

Highlight of the first half for me was Sinatra’s, lyrical masterpiece ‘It was a very good year.’ He sang it tenderly and straight. It was quite magical and I loved it. ‘Mack the Knife’ was particular popular with the audience and his interpretation of George Harrison’s ‘Something’ showed his vocal range off, at its best, being slightly Bassey-esque in it's delivery.

This type of show, performed in a small intimate venue, can easily fall on its face but Scott manages to get the audience onside very quickly. His self-deprecating style and his Pink persona are particularly charming and endearing, and never alienates his audience. He dares you to like him!

Pink Sinatra is a classy treat, performed by a seasoned pro who is able to communicate his love affair with the music to his audience with charm and ease.

I was only able to stay for the first half but on the basis of what I heard, this show is well worth checking out.
