They have been in the music business for ten years and this is their fourth album released to coincide with their European Tour.

This eight-piece group from Barcelona have forged a sound all their own which is an original hybrid of flamenco, Catalan rumba and hip hop with a constantly changing influx of other styles and instruments.

They describe themselves as "jipjop flamenkillo" (hip-hop with a little flamenco) but they are essentially Spanish, and Catalan to be more exact. It’s a blood thing, it boils and sings in equal measure.  If you’ve ever been to Barcelona or North Eastern Spain then you’ll have heard this coming from every cool bar, club or party you wished you could have got into. In the best nature of flattery too there are quite a few imitations bands spinning up around Europe.

The music of Ojos de Brujo uses the emotional flair of flamenco, but anchors it in a steady rhythmic grounding. It’s got an oddly retro feel to it, almost making it sound like the very danceable rumba Catalan, the hybrid of flamenco and Afro-Cuban music. There’s also rapid-fire rapping from Ms. Azad, DJ Panko and the band’s founder and main songwriter, the percussionist Xavier Turull, who sometimes plays the traditional box-shaped drum used for flamenco, the cajón.

Marina Abad vocals are usually the main focus of these songs and her voice can wrap itself smoothly from the rough reality of a flamenco snap to more dominant and street wise rap, this is a women you would definitely want to get on the wrong side off, just to see what she did. She looks as wild, dark and unpredictable as her voice sounds and it’s a treat to have her prowl around your ears.

‘Ojos De Brujo’ translates as ‘Eyes of the witch’ and this is a magical blending of flamenco and rumba, grabbing handfuls of hip hop, dub and modern-sounding drum licks and bass lines this group makes forward-looking music that could definitely have been made only in Spain and probably only in Barcelona.

For one night only, they are at the Dome. These people are super cool and scorching hot at the same time and will leave you wanting to dance until dawn with a bewitching stranger with seductive eyes.

Sunday November 29:  8pm (doors 7.30pm)
