Frockabilly, Brighton’s queer-run, straight-friendly 1950s-themed club night, is joining forces with Grrrl Friday on Friday, August 6.
A spokesman for the event said:
"
Both floors of the Latest Music Bar will be transformed into a vintage wonderland of gingham, bamboo, flamingo cocktail straws and midnight cup cakes.
"Upstairs, there’ll be live rock ‘n’ roll from the Frockabilly house band, featuring vocals from Nicky Mitchell, Al Start and stars of the Pride Women’s Performance Tent. Support will be provided by Brighton’s hardest working sweetheart of the rodeo, Danni Nicholls.
"Downstairs, Frockabilly DJs will play vintage rock ‘n’ roll, rockabilly and rhythm & blues all night long, including the likes of Eddie Cochran, Bill Haley & His Comets, Gene Vincent, Jerry Lee Lewis, Wynona Carr, Billy Fury, The Collins Kids, Fats Domino, Wynonie Harris and many, many more."
DJ Lonesome M said:
“
Frockabilly is thrilled to be hosting Grrrl Friday, and we’re really looking forward to bringing you the best in live rock ‘n’ roll in addition to our usual vintage tunes. We’re also hoping to raise a lot of money for the Brighton Women’s Centre. Frockabilly welcomes hepcats and kittens of all persuasions, so come down and get your Pride weekend started with a glass of soda and a hand jive!”
