Jaybee, aka james bennett, is a local boy who writes and plays his own catchy, quirky, literate, indie pop music. He’s been featured on the BBC and obviously loves Bowie.
This is his sixth solo album and Sussex cowboy mixes synth riffs with weeping pedal steel licks. It's pop but kind of country too. It's more than a little bit gay but safe for straights. It's funny in a serious kind of way. It’s also perfect for your xmas party and letting your hair down and having some fun. The songs take characters from their normal surroundings in 101 country songs, and transplants them to Brighton. These cowboys ain’t in Kansas anymore.

One of the tracks
"Brokeback Mountain” takes Ang Lee's randy cowboys and transplants them to Devil's Dyke in the middle of a rave. Another track
"Virginia Woolf" has the Sussex Cowboy riding boldly up to Bloomsbury and rescues said Ginny from her bluestocking life. Elsewhere there are vampires in
"Oskar and Eli", an abused lover's lament in the torch song
"Conquistador", and a guide to internet dating in
"Blind Date".
