The British Foreign & Commonwealth Office is asking people to vote
for one of ten photographs taken by their international network of
embassies during 2010.
One such picture was taken during Nepal’s first large-scale Pride in August 2010. The colourful photo shows the country’s only openly gay MP Sunil Pant leading a procession of up to two thousand people while riding an elephant through the capital city of Kathmandu.
British Ambassador John Tucknott and British Embassy staff also attended the parade to show their support and solidarity for the human rights of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) people. Mr Tucknott told the Times of India:
"
It is about saying yes to embracing diversity."
The winner will be announced in January 2011.
