The Tin Drum in St James's Street is to hold an evening of fun and frolics at the Tin Drum St James Street in aid of the Brighton and Hove Aids Memorial Fund. The event will take place on Thursday, October 1 and doors open at 6.30pm.

Fund raising is essential for the memorial due to the large costs involved with creating a piece of public art of this scale and stature. Sculptor Romany Mark Bruce has auctioned a piece of his own work off at no fee to help raise funds. Apart from a £250 donation from NatWest all other fund raising has come from individuals and local businesses.

Romany Mark Bruce said:
“The support I have received over the past two years whilst working on this project has been overwhelming.  I feel very privileged to have been given the opportunity to help to remember those whose lives have been affected by HIV and Aids."

The evening will begin with performances from the cast of the Alternative Brighton Pantomime including Miss Jason and Dave Lynn. Later there will be a charity auction which will start around 8pm with prizes from local jeweller Jeremy Hoye and signed Harry Potter promotional material supplied by local actor and star of all six films, Mark Williams.

Dave Radtke,Tin Drum Owner, said:
“When we heard that the Memorial Fund was low on cash we instantly wanted to help in any way we could. I really think that this fundraiser will be a great example of the St James Street community coming together to help a really great cause. I am very proud to have the Tin Drum involved in such an honourable project.”
