The Eastern Road Area Parnership, a neighbourhood group based in Kemp Town, is conducting a survey to identify concerns for elderly and disabled residents in their area.
There are 4 main issues the group is concentrating on and they would like residents in the Eastern Road/Kemp Town area to comment on the following:
(1) Drop curbs - are there any particular locations that could benefit from a drop-curb?
(2) Dangerous paving and obstacles blocking pedestrians/mobility scooters.
(3) Benches - which locations would benefit from additional seating?
(4) Public toilets - where should these be located?
The idea for this consultation came via feedback from numerous neighbourhood action meetings and the survey will be co-ordinated by the Chair of the Partnership, Chris Cooke.
The Partnership will be working with numerous agencies such as Environment Improvement, Housing and the OPC (Older Peoples Council) to tackle the problem areas highlighted.
Chris commented:
"The first stage of this process is really a fact finding exercise, and so I want to encourage residents to report their concerns on the four areas we will initially concentrate our efforts. The Eastern Road area has a high concentration of elderly residents and these are important issues affecting their daily lives - so as a Partnership we need to identify and then action the necessary improvements to the neighbourhood"
The next meeting of the Partnership will be at 2pm on Thursday January 20 at Somerset Point, Somerset Street.
