As part of global activity to mark World AIDS Day on December 1, Starbucks Brighton and Legends Hotel are joining forces to host a fundraising evening of local music and entertainment in support of the Sussex Beacon.
The Sussex Beacon, based in Brighton, provides innovative care and services to meet the changing needs of men and women living with HIV. This local contribution is part of a wide-reaching initiative by Starbucks to support World AIDS Day, with fundraising events taking place up and down the country.
The event will bring together music acts and entertainment from across Brighton and Sussex, aiming to raise thousands of pounds for this important local organisation. There will be performances from local acts including: Sam Little from Eat Sleep Attack, The Grand Majestic and West End Duet. As well as entertainment, there will also be a silent auction to bid for a host of exclusive items, with all proceeds going to the Sussex Beacon.
Rachel Christy, Starbucks District Manager for Brighton, said:
“This is the second year we have hosted a fund raising event for the Sussex Beacon and this year we hope to double the amount of money raised. This local charity provides vital care for men and women living with HIV/AIDS, and we aim to boost funds to support the centre. Starbucks are supporting World AIDS Day on a global level, and this event is part of making that activity relevant to local communities and giving people the chance to directly help the causes they care about.”
On World Aids Day, Starbucks will make an additional contribution of 5p to the Global Fund for every cup of coffee sold on that day in participating stores in the UK.
Also offered in participating UK stores throughout the season are the (STARBUCKS)RED Card and the (STARBUCKS)RED tumbler. Each time a customer pays with their (STARBUCKS)RED Card at a participating Starbucks coffeehouse in the UK and Ireland through to the end of 2010, Starbucks will contribute 5p to the Global Fund. In addition, each (STARBUCKS)RED Tumbler sold in the UK will generate a contribution from Starbucks of £3 to the Global Fund.
The event takes place from 6pm – 10pm on December 1 at Legends Hotel, 31-34 Marine Parade, Brighton.
