Des Turner MP, Chair for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on ME which is conducting an inquiry into the provision of NHS services for ME/CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) patients, has announced that the Group will publish its report on December 2.

The APPG meeting was attended by Yvette Cooper MP, Secretary of State at the Department of Work and Pensions, who has suffered from ME herself. At the meeting Des expressed the hope that the Secretary of State’s insight into ME would be reflected in the approach of her department in dealing with ME/CFS suffers.

Des Turner said:
“The current benefits system is not very good at dealing with fluctuating conditions such as ME.  I know that because of her own personal experiences with ME the Secretary of State is concerned to ensure that her department is more responsive to the needs of ME sufferers.”
