Rapunzel Gets Down, the Hove-based women-only performance night, combines comedy with a  five-piece folk-rock band on Saturday, February 13.

Claire Parker, lesbian transgender stand-up, provides comic insight, perky sexual politics and a personality somewhere between Jo Brand and Jack Dee. “…highlight of the evening was transsexual comedienne Claire Parker” said The Argus  after her performance at The Joogleberry in ‘Bright n’ Queer’.

Headlining is Greymatter, an all-woman line-up with two albums – ‘Hands on Fire’ and ‘Caterpillar Tree’ – to their credit. Their songs are a blend of vocal harmonies, electric and acoustic guitars, piano and trumpet, with solid bass and tight drum rhythms.

The night ends with a ‘micro-disco’ of an hour or so’s boogie.

Rapunzel Gets Down is at The Cella in the basement of The Sanctuary Café, on Brunswick Street East, Hove on the second Saturday of the month.

The event runs from 8.00pmtill midnight and live performances start at 9.00pm.

Entrance is £6.00 on the door.
