Q-ukulele, the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) ukulele group will have its first meeting on Sunday September 20 at the Grosvenor Pub, 16 Western St, just off Western Road.
Al Start, who set up the group, said:
"Our aim is to play little ukulele's and sing fun songs (if you want to join in singing) in between drinking beers or cups of tea, chatting, laughing and meeting new friends. We may decide to perform in the future (again, optional), we may decide to record and take over the world, who knows! The main thing is to have fun on a lazy Sunday afternoon...sounds like a song already!
"Ukulele's are cheap to buy - my personal recommendation is a "Makala" ukulele, available from Aguilera Guitars on the bottom of Edward Street. £22.95 will buy you a great little uke. If you really want to make it sing, buy a set of Aquilla strings for £8 and swap them over for a dynamic sound. I can help you with this, or they'll do it for you in the shop."
