The Trustees of Pride in Brighton & Hove are inviting community groups to join the Communities 4 Pride Group which will run alongside the business forum to ensure community involvement in planning for Pride 2010.

Chris Gull, a former chairman of Brighton Cares and a prominent local businessman, has been suggested as an independent chair for these meetings. Only those who have expressed an interest in being part of the Communities 4 Pride Group are invited to this meeting.

The suggested time of this meeting is Thursday February 4.  The meeting will run from 6-8, unless an alternative time is put forward.  Once the time is confirmed, the venue will be circulated to all who have expressed an interest in being involved.

The format of the evening will be agreed on the night.  Terms of reference, the purpose of the group and membership of the groups will be discussed and agreed at the first meeting.  Some of the things that could be picked up in this group are:

1.      What is the meaning of Pride and how can Pride work with/through and for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) communities?
2.      How does Pride convert its charitable aims to action?
3.      How does the LGBT community stay central to key Pride events? (this could include discussions of the practicalities of the park and funding)

The meeting will be chaired by Chris Gull and will be attended by Pride Trustees and representatives from Fisher- the park production company.

Community groups wishing to participate in the initial forum meetings should email Judith Manson: judith@brightonpride.org with their preferred timings. Once the time and venue are finalised groups will be informed by email.
