Police have launched a murder enquiry into the death of a 29 year old woman whose body was found in a flat in Upper Lewes Road, Brighton, on Thursday October 15th.

Following a post mortem examination yesterday evening, police are now treating the death of the victim - who is believed to be Andrea Waddell, who lived at the address - as suspicious.

Police were called by East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service to a report of a fire at the flat just before midnight, when Andrea's body was discovered by firefighters.

Sussex Police's Major Crime Branch were immediately called in to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area or who has any information about the incident is urged to contact police on 0845 60 70 999, quoting serial 1925 of October 16th (Operation Merewood).
