Sussex Police put 21 officers and staff into St James's Street, Brighton, to tackle the problems raised by people living in the area.
Antisocial behaviour, cycling the wrong way down the one-way street and begging were the priorities for uniformed and plain-clothes patrols between 10am on Thursday and 2am last Friday.
The issues were raised by the street's local action team, made up of people in the neighbourhood.
Group chairman Chris Cooke said :
"
It shows the local action teams are working and are listened to."
Inspector David Derrick said about half a dozen cyclists were given on-the-spot fines for breaking traffic rules. He has asked Boots the chemist to make it more difficult for beggars to use its entrance.
The police's night-time strategy Operation Marble, which focusses on West Street, has recently been extended to St James's Street.
