Brighton celebrates the rich diversity of its city and its residents tomorrow, October 18 with Brighton & Hove People’s Day at Hove Town Hall. Last year’s event attracted over three thousand people. Organisers promise this years event will be even bigger!
The event is free and features music, dance, film, international food, speakers, workshops, supervised children’s activities and stalls. The Brighton & Hove (actually) Gay Men's Chorus will be making an appearance along with the Tribe of Doris, an international troup of Whirling Dervishes and Nicky Mitchell.
The day features all manner of communities and cultures from across the City and presents an eclectic programme of entertainment with something for everyone.
Representatives from many communities within the City- including Black and Minority Ethnic communities, Faith communities, Youth organisations, LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) groups, Disabled organisations and Older People’s groups are coming together for an inclusive day of activities and revelry.
Brighton & Hove People's Day builds strong and positive relationships between people from all backgrounds, a sense of belonging to the city and an opportunity to share our values and what is important to us.
The aim is to embrace the different communities and to build bridges between them, increasing understanding and tolerance.
