The Norwich Pride Collective, who organised the city's first LGBT Pride celebrations in July, are looking for 140 people to tell their 'Coming Out' stories for an interactive show at Fusion in the Forum in the New Year.

The show is called 140 Character and will include 140 people (“characters”) telling their Coming Out Story in 140 characters or less (a “tweet” on the popular social networking site Twitter) It will run from January 11–25, 2010.

Michelle Savage, from the Norwich Pride Collective, explains:
"Every LGBT person has at least one great Coming Out story - it might be about when they first fell in love, or when they told their parents or when they realised  they had a crush on their favourite popstar. We want LGBT people to tell us what it was like for them to Come Out and we'd also love friends and families to tell us their side of the story too. Fusion is Europe’s largest permanent digital screen gallery with free public access - we want to fill it with 140 different tales and capture the variety of people's experiences."

People can make a film about Coming Out at free Micro-Moviemaking workshops in Norwich and Cromer. Each workshop lasts 140 minutes and are run by Community Filmmaker Shelly Telly and Poet/Artist Vince Laws. The workshops will be held on:
Thurs Dec 10, 10.40-1pm, The Cube in the Forum, Norwich
Thurs Dec 17, 10.40-1pm, Virginia Court Hotel, Cromer

Email: shell@shellytelly.co.uk or call 07786351214 to book a place. The workshops are, like Norwich Pride, inclusive - anyone can come.

Vince Laws explains what will happen on the workshops:
"Shelly and I are going to inspire people to make micro-movies lasting just 12 seconds long. That's quite a challenge but you'll be amazed how much information, imagery and poetry you can pack into such a short amount of time. It's going to be fun and interesting and, like all creativity, good for your health!"

Norwich Pride are working with the Writers Centre to help develop people's storytelling skills. Ross Sutherland has produced a guide to writing very short stories which can be downloaded from www.writerscentrenorwich.org.uk

People can tweet their Coming Out tales at:

or text it to: 07786351214

or email it to: shell@shellytelly.co.uk
