Following yesterdays announcement from the national gay brand Popstarz that they were withdrawing from this years Pride in Brighton and Hove on August 7, today Girl Action and Vavoom Bar, both established operators who had bars on Preston Park last year have withdrawn from this years event.

Rebecca Paisis from Girl Action said:
“It is a substantial investment to be involved with Brighton Pride and although we have enjoyed our past partnerships with Aeon Events and Wild Fruit we feel uncomfortable being involved with this years event with no local gay brands on the park. We wish the organisers the best of luck and maybe will return to Brighton in 2011 when their current problems have been resolved."

Alan Barrett of Vavoom Bar said:
"Due to the current situation, bad publicity in the national gay press and lack of local operators at Pride this year, Vavoom have withdrawn all expressions of interest in Pride 2010 on Preston Park. We are very disappointed not to be on the Park this year and hope to return in 2011 when hopefully there will be a local presence at Pride in Brighton and Hove once again."

A new facebook group Brighton Pride campaign for change has been set up:
