LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) groups and projects across Greater Manchester have been invited to apply for grants of up to £1,000 from the Manchester Pride Community Fund.
The fund, which distributes money raised during Manchester Pride 2009, is open to applications from registered charities or other forms of legally established community or voluntary groups.
Applications from organisations or groups applying in partnership with other organisations are particularly welcome. The maximum amount that can be applied for is £1,000.
Jackie Crozier, festival manager of Manchester Pride, said:
“We’re really proud that the community fund grant scheme allows grassroots level groups and projects to benefit from the monies raised at Manchester Pride. We’re in the process of confirming the other organisations and charities that pride will support this year – but in the meantime, it’s great to get applications coming in for the Community Fund so that we can get the money out to those that need it most.”
Paul Martin, chief executive of the LGF (Lesbian and Gay Foundation), who administer the fund on behalf of Manchester Pride, said:
“The LGF is incredibly pleased to continue our excellent working relationship with Manchester Pride on the Community Fund Grant Scheme. We are committed to continuing this partnership and securing the future success of the LGBT voluntary sector in Greater Manchester. It’s hugely rewarding to see that the generosity of Manchester Pride-goers will make sure that these groups get something back from the very community they support and this crucial fund can make sure that they continue to develop their excellent work.”
The closing date for applications is Friday November 27 2009.
Applications should be sent to: Darren Knight, Development Manager, The Lesbian and Gay Foundation, 4th Floor Princess House, 105/107 Princess Street, Manchester, M1 6DD or emailed to:
