Matthew Knight, 20, from Percival Terrace, Brighton, is accused of robbing a man on November 2.

He appeared before Lewes Magistrates' Court on Saturday (November 7) where he was remanded to re-appear at Lewes Crown Court on January 8, 2010.

Knight was arrested on Friday, November 6, along with two men from Brighton who remain on bail while enquiries continue.

Over a period of three weeks there has been a rise in the number of robberies in the area of Dukes Mound.

A Sussex police spokesman said:
"Those in the area after dark are reminded to be aware of their personal safety and call 999 if they experience or witness an incident."
