Yesterday at the Labour Party Conference, local beach volleyball players shared the stage with their sporting heroes Kelly Holmes, Amir Khan, Tessa Sanderson and multi marathon runner Eddie Izzard.
Katie Mintram, the Director of Yellowave on Madeira Drive, which is home to the City’s only Olympic training facility for 2012 took part in a question and answer session chaired by Tessa Sanderson with her fellow sporting hopefuls.
Katie said,
"It was such an experience and a fabulous opportunity to take part in something so special. It was an honour to share the stage with Olympians, Para0lympians and young British athletes. This is a really exciting time for British sport, with the focus on the Olympics, looking forward 2012 and to being an Olympic training facility for beach volleyball teams from across the world.“
Leader of the Local Labour Group in Brighton and Hove, Cllr Gill Mitchell added;
"Yellowave is a fantastic addition to the Kemp Town seafront. It is a great example of a successful local business that provides fun and fitness. I'm so pleased that owner Katie Mintram is now getting the national recognition that she deserves through the Labour Party and wish Yellowave every success as they train players for the 2012 Olympics."
