Hove’s Green Watch will attempt to set a Guinness World Record by covering the longest distance travelled by 10 firefighters down a firefighters pole in an hour. This will take place at a Road Safety Awareness event at Goldstone Retail Park in Hove on Sunday August 23 from 10am to 4pm.
Representatives from Sussex Police, the Sussex Safer Roads Partnership and Brighton & Hove City Council will join East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service to provide supporting safety messages and information.
The Coaching for a Safer Community Team will take their inflatable goal post along and The Argus newspaper will provide their bouncy castle to keep the children entertained! Furthermore, Hove’s Green Watch will receive extra support from the retail park’s Burger King and JJB branches on the day.
The firefighters and their supporting colleagues will also be raising money for the Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice in Arundel. Chestnut Tree House is the only children's hospice in Sussex and cares for children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with progressive life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses from all over the county. Staff from the hospice will be on hand at the event.
