The Takepart Sports Festival have announced a grants scheme for local groups and community organisations.

Up to £250 is on offer to groups of 3 people or more to do something inspired by the Takepart festival and that celebrates active living. Activities must take place during the festival which this year runs from June 19 to July 4.

Priority for the awards will be given to applications that came from groups based within Brighton & Hove’s priority areas and from sections in the community who are known to be less physically active, for example older people, women and people with disabilities.

Applications will not be accepted from schools.

Activities could include taster sessions in a new sport or activity, organising a health walk or a group cycle ride, purchasing equipment or hiring a bus to bring your group down to the big Takepart day in Preston Park on June 19.

The deadline for applications is 19 April.

David Brindley, Health Promotion Specialist at NHS Brighton and Hove, said:
"This is a great way of encouraging local people to take part in the festival. The application form is really easy and straight forward – just tell us what you want to do and how much it will cost and we’ll see if we can help you take part."
