Local Food Week Picnic, part of Local Food Week, takes place on Saturday September 25, 11am-4pm, by the Harvest vegetable garden in Preston Park (on the lawn behind the Rotunda Cafe).
A spokesman for the event said:
"September’s Brighton & Hove Food & Drink Festival will be celebrating the huge range of international flavours in our city, including visits from top celebrity chefs such as Madhur Jaffrey and Anthony Bourdain. But for one week of the festival, the main attraction is a bit closer to home – Local Food Week is all about home-grown produce from our local allotments and gardens, and the delicious variety of foods produced nearby in Sussex, from cheese to chutney to champagne!

Harvest’s Local Food Picnic, Preston Park, Brighton
"Everyone is invited to join in at an event where you can swap excess crops, watch cookery demonstrations, try local produce and take part in fun activities about food! Kindly sponsored by Infinity Foods."
Jess Crocker, Manager of the Harvest project at the Brighton & Hove Food Partnership, said:
“Our city’s interest in local food and food growing is increasing every day, and the fantastic range of events taking place during Local Food Week is a testament to this. Many people may not realise how many different foods they can buy or grow locally, so this week is a chance to try something deliciously new!”
Nick Mosley, MD, Brighton & Hove Food and Drink Festival, said:
"We have an incredible line up this year, kicking off at Brighton Racecourse for a Fun & Foodie Race Day on 1st September and including gala dinners, street carnivals and a huge range of tasty events at venues across the city – it’s going to be bigger and better than ever."
