Liberal Democrat Councillors have welcomed the protection of the city’s AIDS/HIV support grant of £445,000 for Brighton & Hove.
Councillor David Watkins, who had pressed for its protection said
"
This is very good news. I raised at the earliest stage the importance of this grant to our very specific local circumstances, and I am glad that it is not to be cut. Every penny is needed to help deliver services to our communities here."
Councillor Paul Elgood said:
"
This is good news, and sets down a marker for future years. This budget is needed in its entirety and it is good news that the funding will continued without cuts. Brighton and Hove is a special case when it comes to AIDS/HIV funding and I am glad that the council has recognised this."
