The Lib Dem's 2012 party conference is to be held in Brighton.
Brighton & Hove Liberal Democrat Chairman Lawrence Eke said:
"I am delighted that the Liberal Democrats have chosen Brighton for their 2012 annual conference. Brighton is popular among the Liberal Democrat party members for it's liberal traditions, forward-thinking attitudes and excellent hotel and restaurant facilities. Following the surge in Brighton membership and impressive Liberal swing in the General Election, it is only fitting that the national party come to experience all Brighton has to offer.
"Let us hope by 2012 that some of the issues surrounding our Council-controlled assets have been resolved. The conference is an opportunity to publicise our city, and the crumbling King Alfred, tired Brighton Centre and neglected Saltdean Lido all smack of council neglect and an abdication of vision and leadership.
"By 2012 I hope that our city will have many more Liberal Democrat councillors, with the energy and civic pride to showcase our city. The local Liberal Democrats want to make Brighton & Hove the best it can be, not to outsource it to the highest bidder."
