Brunswick and Adelaide Lib Dem Councillor Paul Elgood is pursuing the City Council on its failure to meet targets to ensure the diversity of its senior management is fairly balanced.
The Council failed to publish its monitoring data in time for Councillors to scrutinise its performance. The subsequent late publication revealed that the Council missed its target. Publication of the data is a legal requirement, as is the requirement of a balanced workforce.
Paul said:
"The Council is failing to tackle this issue and has no real strategy in place to resolve it.
"They just want us to forget this failing but I'm not letting up. They need to sort this out, once and for all and have a balanced senior workforce which reflects the make-up of the population."
Paul has tabled the following written question to the full council meeting on 27th Jan:
"The 'organisational health' performance data for the number of top 5 per cent earners from an ethnic minority background employed by the City Council was not available at the Overview and Scrutiny Commission for Councillors to monitor. The subsequent late release of this data showed that the Council is still missing the target for this. What action is the Council taking to improve the diversity of its senior workforce?"
