Letter to the Editor: Black Rock encampments

When is Brighton & Hove City Council and the police going to act decisively about the ongoing problem of large groups of travellers setting up camp at the Black Rock end of Madera Drive I wonder.
These encampments that often number thirty caravans take over the Black Rock public car park that others would have to pay to use and the surrounding areas where if locals parked would be issued with parking tickets.
I was unceremoniously flagged down the other day by a group of men whose vehicles were blocking this east end area and was informed that the road was being blocked off. I was also told by the lead member of this burly group of travellers that if I did not turn my vehicle round and head back to Brighton I would be dragged from my car and thrown into the sea! As a Community charge paying resident of East Brighton I wish to know what the authorities are going to do to ensure that local people have safe access to this part of our city.
