At a meeting on March 18, Gill Mitchell, the Leader of the Labour Group and member for East Brighton, will question the Conservative in charge over the lack of improvements to Madeira Drive .
According to a Labour spokesman:
"Since September 2008, the Cabinet Member in charge of Environment had promised that plans for regeneration of the Eastern seafront would be drawn up. Over two years have passed with no plans, no action and no priority given to regenerating Madeira Drive."
Cllr Mitchell said:
“It is simply illogical the local Conservatives are only prioritising the Hove Seafront for refurbishment. Madeira Drive has great potential to be a real asset to the City with the successful and popular Yellowave, leading the way. But more needs to be done; businesses in the area need support. I shall be questioning why the Tory Council has taken no action over the last two years to regenerate this historic part of our seafront.”
