Queens Park's three Labour council candidates have called on the council and police to tackle boy racers and other speeding drivers in the area.
Chris Cooke, Karen Barford and Andy Taylor have been listening to residents' concerns about dangerous driving in the roads around the historic park.
In a joint statement they said:
"We need action. There are boy racers using these roads as race tracks, putting local people, as well as themselves, in real danger. Elsewhere, there are other drivers going much too fast through residential areas, and there could be tragic consequences unless something is done.
"Using the city's mobile cameras will be a clear deterrent to speeding drivers, while allowing law-abiding road users to get on with their journey. Using the camera in West Drive will put boy racers right off, and the van should be used in other hot spots, to keep local people safe.
"This needs to be sorted out, people are worried that the council just isn't listening to their concerns. Their local Green councillors are just pushing on regardless for a blanket 20mph speed limit across the City. What's more important, what local people want, or what the Green Party wants?
"Local people want councillors to listen to their concerns and come up with smart solutions. 20mph zones can be effective in certain places, but it's not a one size fits all solution.
"We'll be writing to the council and Sussex Police to ask for this to be put into place, and encourage local residents to get in touch with us to share their concerns."
