Spectrum, Gscene and RealBrighton have teamed up to give LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) voters an opportunity to quiz local candidates for the general election on the issues that they care about.
A spokesman for Spectrum said:
"There’s all to be won (or lost) in this election for MPs to the three marginal Brighton & Hove constituencies. Whoever wins will need to win your trust to represent you and 35,000 other LGBT citizens in the city. So whether you’ve got a burning issue and want answers, made up your mind and want to show your support, are undecided, swinging, or confused and want to know more, all are welcome.
"Using a ‘Question Time’ format, and chaired by Chris Gull (former chair of Brighton Cares), you’ll be able to hear (briefly) what the four main parties are proposing to earn your vote. You’ll then get a chance to pose your own questions and enter into the debate.
"RealBrighton will be collecting your questions (not to be shared with the politicians beforehand) and we’ll ask a selection on the night to get the ball rolling before opening up to a wider debate. Closing date for questions is Wednesday April 28."
The meeting takes place on Thursday April 29 at 7pm at the Friends Meeting House, Ship St., Brighton.
The venue is wheelchair accessible, has an induction loop. People with any other needs should email:
