An independent poll, conducted by Kindle Research and commissioned by the Argus, has shown that the result of Brighton Kemptown at the general election is too close to call.

The polling put Simon Burgess, Labour & Co-op candidate, just two percent ahead of the Conservatives (well within the margin of error). The survey was conducted between February 8 and 14. The percentages with don't knows and non-voters extracted were;

Labour & Co-op  38%
Conservative            36%
Green                   13%
Lib Dem                 11%

Simon Burgess said:
"This is similar to what I am finding on the doorstep with former Lib Dem and Green voters switching to us to stop the Conservatives. It just goes to prove what we have been saying which is that it is incredibly close and only Labour can stop this seat returning to the Conservatives.

Voters who live and work in the gay village forget that the constituency stretches as far as Peacehaven to include areas with many Conservatives in them. I hope that local people will look at the record of the candidates to see what they have done over the years for the area and for the fight for equality."
