Actress Sarah Jayne Dunn has swapped the stage for the gym to train for this year’s Bupa Great North Run in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign.

The former Hollyoaks star will join 46,000 runners on the start line for the 13.1 mile run in Newcastle on Sunday 19 September and wants more budding runners across the UK to join her on Campaign’s team.

Sarah Jayne, who is currently the lead role in the stage version of When Harry Met Sally, has been a keen supporter of the charity for several years and wants to support the 46,000 people diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year. She will be running with her partner Darren.

Sarah Jayne said:
I’m thrilled to take part in the Great North Run for Breast Cancer Campaign. They do a fantastic job in funding vital breast cancer research so I want to do all I can to help their mission to beat this disease. Every year thousands of women are affected by breast cancer so the need to continue supporting research is stronger than ever. I’ve never run this race before so I’m excited for the challenge and I hope lots of other runners will sign up to run with me and help make a difference to the 125 people who are sadly diagnosed every day.”

All runners who sign up with Campaign will automatically become a member of Linford’s All Stars – an exclusive club captained by Linford Christie, who offers supporters helpful training tips and nutritional advice. Runners will also receive a fundraising pack containing a Breast Cancer Campaign running vest and lots of fundraising ideas.

Last year 300 Campaign runners raised £160,000 for breast cancer research. If you have a ballot place in this year’s run and would like to join Sarah Jayne on Campaign’s team, call the events team on 020 7749 4114 or email: greatnorthrun@breastcancercampaign.org
