All three Green Parliamentary Candidates for Brighton and Hove today signed Public Service worker's union UNISON's A Million Voices Campaign to support public services in the face of threatened and real cuts.

Caroline Lucas said:
"It's quite wrong that public services pay the price - literally - for the money pumped in to prop up the banks. As the recession puts everyone under pressure, and with the threat of more cuts and privatisation, we must all stand up for public service workers, and the essential and invaluable services they provide."

A Million Voices for Public Services calls for investment and support for the people who provide public healthcare, education, housing and social services rather than privatisation and cuts.

Ben Duncan added:
"The Brighton and Hove Green Party is 100% behind UNISON's campaign and we will fight for a fair deal for public service workers both locally and nationally to protect jobs and services.  It cannot all be about banks at this time of recession.  This initiative is particularly important now in Brighton as public sector jobs come under threat from all sides this winter."
