The Rainbow Chorus is calling young LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) people to come along to a free workshop in central Brighton with the participation of Lorraine Bowen.

In December 2009 The Rainbow Chorus was awarded £10,000 funding by the BBC Choral Ambition as part of their Performing Arts Fund. The grant allowed the choir to increase their profile in the LGBT community through its funding of open access events and workshops. Due to this grant the Rainbow Chorus has now been able to arrange this free workshop.

A spokesman for the Chorus said:
"While The Rainbow Chorus always wants more people to hear them sing, they also want more people to get involved in singing with them. Bored with watching the X-Factor and wanting to give it a try yourself? No need to read music all you need is to give it a go. Just turn up, it's free! "

The event takes place between 1pm and 4pm on Saturday March 20 at The Hanbury Ballroom, 83 St Georges Road, Brighton.
