The EHRC (Equality & Human Rights Commission) has appointed its new Commissioners, but has failed to appoint a trans person.

Commissioners were appointed to cover seven strands: Rage & Ethnicity; Religion and Belief; Disability; Gender; Sexual Orientation; Age and Trans.

According to Stephen Whittle of the trans campaigning group Press for Change:
"The strands are covered - except one : Trans - once again we have been left out despite more than one experienced, and professionally qualified trans person applying. Perhaps now is the time to acknowledge that both the Government
Equalities Office and the EHRC really do not understand or take seriously the issues face by trans people.

"Press for Change will write formally and complain and encourage others to do so as well."
