The cost of the council's recent recruitment process of four new Strategic Directors came to £121,000.

The costs comprise:
Search - £84k.
Advertisement and website - £14k.
Venue and testing - £3k.
Testing charges with reports for all long listed candidates - £20k.

Lib Dem Councillor Paul Elgood said:
"This is a shocking waste of money, especially when considered that the council already had an extremely talented senior management team.

"This money could be far better spent on public services, for example by mitigating the worst of the cuts to the youth service.

"Much of this expenditure is on external consultants and not even through the council's own in-house HR team.

"I will continue to pursue answers to my questions on the cost of paying off the old Directors, which in most cases was completely unnecessary.

"With this level of wastage, once again we feel vindicated not to have participated in the controversial recruitment process."
