A one-off grants scheme is being launched this week for community and voluntary sector organisations based in the former New Deal for Communities Area (Moulsecoomb, Whitehawk, Upper Bevendean, Manor Farm, Saunders Park and Bates Estate.)
Using the remainder of the New Deal for Communities funding, Brighton & Hove City Council will be awarding grants of up to £2,000 for organisations with an annual income of up to £50,000.
Grants will not be made towards core costs but are specifically towards one of two types of project activity designed to support and improve the sustainability of organisations in the former New Deal for Communities area:
1) Grants can support organisation development, for example through investing in fundraising support, business planning, market research, public relations or consultancy.
Or
2) Organisations may apply for a grant to support infrastructure development, for example through the purchase of items of equipment that will help organisations operate more efficiently or initiate new income generating activities.
Brighton & Hove City Council’s Communities Team will be administering the programme, which will be simple with quick decisions. The team has won national acclaim for its grants programme and will apply the same professionalism to this small grants pot.
Councillor Dee Simson, Cabinet Member for Communities said:
“I am delighted to announce this specialist one-off grants programme for organisations based in this part of the city. We hope that by doing this we can support them to improve their sustainability”.
