Chris Cooke

Local community and LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) activist Chris Cooke has stepped down from Chairing two community groups (the St.James's Area Local Action Team and the American Express Residents Liaison Group) to concentrate his efforts on the forthcoming May local council elections.
Chris is standing as one of the Labour Party candidates in the Queen's Park ward and is hoping to win back this pivotal ward for Labour from the current three Green incumbents (with two of the serving Green councillors not standing for re-election in May)
Chris said:
"It is appropriate at this time that the groups that I Chair remain as independent and therefore as apolitical as possible, particularly given that the local elections are only four months away. I hope that local residents will now come forward and take up the reins and continue the good work of these excellent community groups. I'm particularly proud of the LAT (local action team) which has developed into one of the most dynamic and well respected LAT's in the city over the last two years"
Chris will continue with his role in the community and residents will most likely see more of him as he will be pushing for improvements to the neighbourhood as he has done over the last few years.
