An Action Day for St James's Street earlier this week resulted in a major clean-up of the area.
Chris Cooke, Chair of St.James's Area Local Action Team, said:
"Can I just say a huge thank you to the City Services team (comprising both City Clean and City Parks) for their fantastic efforts yesterday on the 'Action Day' for St. James's St. The team made a great improvement to the look of the street through their cleaning and removal of graffiti.
"In addition, the park in Dorset Gardens was given a makeover, with shrubs and trees being cut back, rubbish removed and graffiti painted over. New recycling points were also added at certain locations along the street.
"Environmental Enforcement officers, Highway Enforcement officers and the PCSOs were also on hand to ensure that it was an educational exercise as well as an Action Day for the street. I was delighted to see the cooperation between the Council and the local action group and it really shows how much progress can be made by working together. It very much turned out to be a real Community effort, with feedback from residents and businesses alike being extremely positive. I hope we can make this "Action Day" a regular event in St.James's calendar."
