A new set of three leaflets is now available giving details of how to get out on the Downs around Brighton & Hove.
The leaflets give details of times and fares for buses between the city centre or Brighton Station and Devil’s Dyke, Stanmer Park and Ditchling Beacon (buses, 77, 78 and 79). Each adult can take up to two children free on the "
Breeze" bus routes.
The Breeze buses have now moved on to increased summer timetables every Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday until the end of September. During high summer (27 June to 31 August) the Devil’s Dyke bus will run every day – usually with open top buses.
10% can be claimed off refreshments with a bus ticket at a new tea rooms on the South Downs Way near Devil’s Dyke.
Each of the leaflets has ideas for walks and details of special events. For example, take the 79 bus to Ditchling Beacon and walk across the Downs to either Patcham (2.5 miles) or Lewes (5.5miles).
Travellers can then return to the city centre on frequent buses from either Patcham or Lewes. All this can be done on one ticket – the SuperSaver @ £5.00 from the driver – or free with a bus pass.
Those travelling in from outside the city can take the train and get two single or return Breeze bus tickets for the price of one by showing a valid train ticket to the bus driver.
"
Breeze" bus services 77, 78 and 79 are funded by Brighton & Hove City Council and The National Trust. Together with the South Downs Joint Committee, they form the award-winning "
Breeze up to the Downs" Partnership, whose mission is to improve access by bus to popular Downland destinations.
