Lesbian, gay and bisexual leaders of the future can now apply for the Stonewall 2009 Leadership Programme. Specifically designed to help participants unlock their career potential and maximise their contribution to their organisation, the programme is a two-day residential on November 26-27 at the Ashridge  Business  School in Hertfordshire.

Now in its fifth year the programme is Britain’s only specifically designed course that brings together emerging gay leaders.

According to a spokesman:
"Gay people perform better when they can act as authentic leaders – which can be challenging in terms of being out in the workplace. Being out also offers a real opportunity for gay leaders to draw on their personal experiences when leading. This Programme gives gay leaders the space to explore how to make the most of this opportunity and exercise leadership more often in the workplace."

Kate Scott-Hughes, a Performance Analyst for the Crown Prosecutions Service and Co-Chair of their LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) Network said:
"Do it. Now. It’s an amazing experience! You can be yourself - no meeting new people and having that 'should I come out' internal angst-ridden discussion with yourself. You get to think about your leadership skills without your sexual orientation getting in the way. I hadn’t realised how liberating that was, and the impact it had on my learning."

This two-day residential costs £795 + VAT per person (if your employer is a member of Stonewall’s Diversity Champions programme) or £1,095 + VAT for non-members. All participants follow the same application process, and the deadline for applications is September 28.
