Nearly 500 people turned out for Brighton & Hove’s Get Involved launch day at Hove Town Hall, last weekend, despite the wet and dreary weather.
The show piece of the launch day was the Question Time session chaired by BBC newsreader Nicholas Owen.
Nicholas chaired the ninety minute question and answer session with a panel of councillors and representatives from the city’s public and voluntary services.
Questions were taken from the floor and also in advance with all panel members offering their views and opinions.
Nicholas said:
“I was delighted to be asked to host the city’s first-ever Question Time session, I am a keen supporter of people getting involved with their communities and do spend a great deal of time in Brighton & Hove, particularly as my mother lives here."
Also at the launch day, members of the Youth Council took part in a Speed Meet your councillor session and a Young Person’s Question Time. A number of local associations, organisations and council teams were exhibiting in the main hall, offering information and advice on how to take part in local community activities and decision making.
