It was fantastic to join my fellow committee members of the Friends of
Queen's (FQP) Park on Friday evening for their inaugural Carol Concert.
The weather was very kind to us and we managed to attract a crowd of almost 300 people to listen to the Salvation Army and to sing Christmas carols by candlelight beneath the clock tower.
Afterwards there was a short procession of the lanterns before we all retired to the tennis pavilion for minced pies and mulled wine and a great time was had by one and all. We even had a quartet of choristers seranading us from the terrace of the pavilion as we enjoyed the hospitality.
We actually managed to raise in excess of £200 on the evening for our FQP funds, so it was an excellent effort by all involved.
Feedback has been so positive that we may well consider holding this event on an annual basis from now on ... watch this space
